I’ve seen enormous waves absolutely destroy boats. I’ve been caught in riptides while scuba diving and felt the complete powerlessness of it. The sea will absolutely annihilate you, consume you, never give up your body, and not even notice.

chess aptitude isn’t nurtured and encouraged in women in the same way it is in men. female intelligence is generally taken less seriously, and competitive chess is still a man’s game and a few decades behind the times. there is enough misogyny coming from inside the house already. the idea that women can’t compete against men at chess, and therefore need their own leagues, was antiquated thirty years ago. female grandmasters have been pushing for all coed leagues as the standard for decades.
